Moscato Gold 2019
The Moscato Gold is our finest expression of the Moscato style. Brown Brothers commitment to Muscat goes back to our first vintage in 1889 and we have been making Moscato since 1996. This release takes the style to a new level of class and distinction.
|Wine Analysis:||Alc/Vol: 6%|
|Colour:||The wine has a light golden colour with a youthful green hue.|
|Aroma:||The nose is lifted with aromas of lemon pith, fresh grapes, honey and musk.|
|Palate:||In the mouth, the wine has layers of flavour including sherbet and spice. The Moscato Gold is deliberately more intense in bubbles than the Moscato giving great balance to the natural grape sweetness. The wine is made to be drunk immediately while young and fresh.|
|Peak Drinking:||Until 2021|
Recommended food pairings: This versatile wine is an ideal accompaniment to any occasion whether it is served with or without food, or as an aperitif or table wine. Try it with a spicy Asian infused broth with lemongrass and coriander or why not have it with a lime and ginger panna cotta for a light dessert option.
Growing Conditions: Muscat of Alexandria is part of the exotic Muscat family. The Romans are believed to have given the grape its name as they found its distinctive aroma akin to that of musk, and hence called it Moscato – smelling of musk. Viticulture experts have identified at least 200 different members of the Muscat family and several of these different clones have been cultivated in Australia for as long as grapes have been grown here. Australian winemakers have a fondness for the variety. It produces delicious, plump, juicy grapes and, depending on which clone is cultivated, when it is harvested and how it is handled, it can produce a wide range of wine styles. If harvested early, it produces delicate, perfumed, crisp, dry white table wines but if left to hang on the vines several weeks longer it produces rich flavoursome dessert wines.
Winemaker: Katherine Brown
Winemaking notes: This wine is made from Muscat of Alexandria and Orange Muscat grapes. The grapes were harvested from mid-February to late April 2019 at baumés ranging from 10.5 to 12.0. The wine was bottled soon after fermentation with an alcohol of 6.0%, a pH of 3.07 and an acid level of 6.1 g/L.
